We are trying something new this year.  I am not known for my green thumb.  Brian usually apologizes to the plants I bring home - sorry for their luck or something like that. 

I have wanted to have a garden for a few years now but we didn't think we had the time or energy to devote to such an endeavor.  Well, this year we finally went for it.   Following the Square Foot Gardening Book, we have a small 4x4 garden.  So far we have planted strawberries, spinach, lettuce, basil, chives, beets, carrots, tomatoes, red pepper plants, sugar snap peas, and pole beans.  We have one empty square foot where my parsley didn't come up.  I plan to plant more spinach or beets there.  I have more tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini that I think I will put into pots, unless I can convince Brian to build another garden container.  :)


So without further ado, here are our tiny sprouts.  (We did plant the tomatoes, strawberries, and red peppers from plants.)  For the children's sake, I pray we enjoy a harvest this year!  If not, it will have been a fun lesson in watching plants grow.  It doesn't look like much from the distance yet.

Ben and I enjoyed some time picking strawberries yesterday morning with the local Mothers of Preschoolers group and a few of his friends.  We had a great time.  Many strawberries were still green but the red ones were yummy.  We bought a small two quart bucket for five dollars and one four quart bucket for nine.  The small bucket sits empty already this morning.

Powder Puff Derby

Hannah was able to participate in the Girl Scouts Powder Puff Derby.  Brian is getting some nice experience designing these cars.  This one they cut out at home with a hand saw and sanded.   She made the ladybug red car in the bottom left corner.

Hannah ended up getting first in the Junior's Division.  Yeah Hannah!

The "Best Day Ever"

Here are a few pictures of  "the best day ever" according to Ben.  Lately, he has had several best days ever but still he was right it was really fun.  Makes me want to book a week at the beach for when school gets out.

Easter Pix

We enjoyed an egg hunt on Saturday in the neighborhood and coloring eggs on Easter Sunday morning after church.  The kids posed for just long enough for me to snap a few photos.  We had a great day.  Happy Easter!  He is RISEN!
